CNYWBA Holds Annual Officer and Director Installation

On June 17, 2015, the Central New York Women's Bar Association (CNYWBA) held its annual Officer and Director Installation at the Unites States Courthouse in Syracuse, New York.

Hon. Rosemary S. Pooler, United States Circuit Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, presided over the installation of CNYWBA's 2015-2016 Officers and Directors.  Judge Pooler reflected on the changes that have occurred for women in the practice of law since she entered the profession.  She pointed out that the Northern District of New York is now fortunate to have many female judges.  In addition to Judge Pooler, the Northern District has two United States District Judges, Hon. Mae A. D'Agostino and Hon. Brenda K. Sannes; United States Magistrate Judge Therese Wiley Dancks (CNYWBA Past President); and two Unites States Bankruptcy Judges, Chief Judge Hon. Margaret Cangilos-Ruiz and Hon. Diane Davis.

The event also featured a presentation by United States Magistrate Judge Hon. David E. Peebles, which included an update on amendments to the Local Rules for the Northern District of New York that will go into effect at the end of this year.  Judge Peebles reprised and updated his presentation on the "Ten Commandments" for federal practice in the Northern District, which he originally presented at the installation of CNYWBA's 2014-2015 Officers and Directors.

CNYWBA was proud to host Women's Bar Association of the State of New York Recording Secretary, Deirdre Hay, who also attended the event.

The event concluded with a brief reception for attendees.
