WBASNY, of which CNYWBA is a chapter, will hold its annual Lobby Week May 9th-14th! This year, lobbying meetings will take place via Zoom, to allow more statewide members to access legislators.
Lobbying priorities for 2022 are the NYS Equal Rights Act, the Clean Slate Act, and the need to increase funding for court appointed attorneys.
Please see below for additional information and to register for the training required to participate in lobbying sessions.
As you are aware, Lobby Week scheduled for May 9th through the 14th is right around the corner.
As was done last year, the meetings will be held on Zoom to enable people to participate from around the state without the need to travel to Albany.
All participants will be required to attend a training session before being allowed to sign up for a meeting with a legislator. Our lobbyist, Jess Schafroth, will be hosting a training session next week on the afternoon of April 27th at our weekly Legislation Committee Meeting held between 4:30 and 5:30. For those who are unable to attend the "live" training session, it will be recorded. Sign up links are attached for both the training session and the Lobby Week meetings: https://bit.ly/WBASNY22. Participation in Lobby Week will not be permitted if training is not attended and confirmed by the Legislation Committee Co-Chairs.
The Legislation Committee Co-Chairs have determined that the following topics will be discussed during Lobby Week: The NYS ERA, Clean Slate Act and the need to increase funding for court appointed attorneys.
